Buggy runs through Clarendon

Clarendon 115 all out HTCC 116 for 6
Another fine display of bowling by Buggy, Ahmed
and Jay, put Clarendon to the sword on Saturday.
Clarendon were reduced to 64 for 9 and although
their last wicket stand of 51 (their last man scored 42!)
capitalised on the tiredness of Buggy and Ahmed, after they had
bowled long spells, we would have taken on 115 all out before the
game.
The highlights of this innings were another five
wicket haul for 'Buggy' Watson (5 for 45), a spell of 2 for 12 by
Jay and three catches by 'Donkeydoos'
at short forward leg.
I found myself opening with a new partner, after
Jay was dropped from that spot for the first time this season. In
fact, it was my new opening partner, Kevin Burgess, who set up our
victory, on a quite difficult wicket - one that had variable
bounce, plenty of pace and movement.
Kevin Burgess (39) and Martin Mason (31) took us within
shouting distance of the required 116, hovever we lost some quick
wickets and ended up having to battle our way to the total.
Ironically it was Jay, the man who was dropped - and Taffy, who
were there at the end to see us home. Perhaps it would do Jay some
good playing the old ball for a while, building up his confidence.
Anyway, another win for the team, hoorah! And we
still have a chance of promotion.
