– 2 118-10
Another good all-round performance from
Holtwhites Trinibis brought them their second league win in as
many games. This moves Holtwhites Trinibis to joint top with
Clarendon and North Mymms II with 60 points apiece.
With the Hatfield Hyde skipper winning the
toss and deciding to bat on a wicket, that looked as though it
would offer some help to the bowlers with the new ball, Watson was
hungry for more wickets after his seven-fer at Braughing the week
before. Indeed, in the first over Watson had the first of his
four. Micallef opened his account for the league season and again
provided good support with the new ball, although occasionally
struggling up the hill and into the wind (again!) - you might have
thought that he had got his Hugo Boss braces caught on the
sightscreen!
10 man Hatfield Hyde were unable to get any
partnerships going throughout their innings, as wickets were being
taken at regular intervals. Sound fielding and catching also
assisted in keeping the run-chase to a minimum.
In the end Hyde were reduced to 118 all out.

the pick of the bowling, with the other
bowlers sharing the rest amongst them.
After another wonderful tea provided by the 3
generations of Blacktopp’s, everyone was well fed and watered to
return to the fray, thank you as ever ladies.
Shah and Hewitt opened the batting in a very
solid and positive fashion, Hewitt playing some shots right out of
the top draw and the score had raced to 66 off 10 overs, before
Shah (16) was adjudged LBW by Bob Akers. A decision that Stevie
Wonder wouldn’t have had second thoughts about (At the
non-striking end, I told Bob that I thought it must have been one
of his easier decisions, absolutely plumb! - Ed). Mr Shah embraced
the decision with his usual grace, that of 5 year old that had
been told he wasn’t having anymore sweets!
With Hewitt (36) departing with score on 85,
Burgess (24*) and Singh (18*) guided the side home to win by 8
wickets.
Things are certainly looking good for a
successful season – the kiss of death if ever I heard one
