Jack Tarling takes first five wicket hall for
the club

2nd June 2002 HTCC 3rd XI V Brimsdown 40 over
game.
Brimsdown 160 all out 40 overs:
H.T. 163-2
Brimsdown won toss and batted.
At last a real summers day and a nice hard flat-ish
wicket down the bottom. After being put in the field on such a hot
afternoon it was a great effort from both bowlers and fielders to
restrict Brimsdown to around 100 in the 33 over. Kyle Bacchus
bowled partiularly well to keep their openers quiet and he was
very unlucky not to pick up a wicket or two. Along with tight
fielding and a great catch from Fisky (Steve), T.V. Reis bowled a
very mean spell too. In the 33rd over though their skipper came in
and decided enough was enough and really got stuck in to poor old
Owen who just bowled straight and full, I'll spare you his
figures, but they were as horrible as they were unfair, because at
the other end a certain Jack Tarling was keeping a lid on things
and thanks to a couple of good catches from Kermit he finished
with best ever figures,8-0-5-34, a deserved reward for sticking to
the basics when it was really flying around a bit.
In the end though, I thought their 160 was a
little more than we wanted to chase...I need not have worried,
after a solid start from TV Reis and our "ringer " for
the day Vince Archer who put together a
patient fifty, we strolled home with Stewart Taylor (43) and Fro'
finishing it off.
Special Mention; Jack Tarling, threw him the
ball for a couple of overs to keep everyone in the game and his
bowling probably ended up winning the game for us. If only he
could keep his bedroom tidy!
