Brewer's late return could not
silence Haringay Libraries

Sunday
19 May 2002 HTCC
3rd XI V
Haringay Libraries:
Lost
by 6 Wickets.
'Libraries won toss and bowled.
It
never is when you lose, but this really wasn't our day and
'Libraries bowled very well, much better than when we played them
last season.
Steve
Gerrett and a rusty looking Brian Harris opened the batting for
us. Scoring was difficult with Steve in particular trying
everything to get the ball off the square. Darren Tarling, 25 and
Tony Bacchus, 25no, top scored, but the innings of the day
belonged to none other than Owen Brewer who came in like a man
possessed and smashed 22 off 8 balls including 2 fours and 2
sixes, all cheered on by his darling Jane. You had to see it to
believe it!
Special
mention for the two young boys. Dan Blacktopp came in at 6 and
played very well and very positive for his 9. And Jack Tarling
came in at 10 for his 7no at a run-a-ball.
End
result 144-9 and not really enough.
In
Haringay Libraries' innings, it all went a bit pear shaped. The
very first ball looped over backward points head off a sliced
drive, then plenty of bye,s one or two dropped catches and they
were off to a flyer and duly got the runs with 15 overs to spare.
Special
mention; Haringay Libraries are a great bunch of lads and despite
that result, the sort of fixture the threes need to keep.
