HTCC News Weekend 30th April - May 1st 2005

Morning everyone,
As usual I have included the teams for the weekend in this email, so
please
confirm to me, by email, that you are ok for the match you've been
selected for
- it makes my life a lot easier and saves on the phone bill!
I must mention the game to be played on Sunday, if you quickly
scroll down to
the team list, there is no typo there, yes, we are meeting at
10.30am! This is
because we are playing our biggest ever game, in fact the biggest
ever team we
have been drawn in any competition in the last 20 years - It is the
ECB National
Cup and we are playing Teddington Away! Teddington are actually the
holders of
this cup and quite easily one of the top 3 teams in Middlesex. So it
will be
quite an experience to play in this game. However the main
reason we are starting so early, is because Teddington being near
Twickenham,
South West London, is quite a trek! Not only this, in the park next
to their
ground, there will be a Fate/Fair that afternoon and all the roads
around will
be closed from 12:15pm - so if we don't get their by 12:15pm, we
will have to
park a mile a way from the clubhouse! So don't be late, we need to
leave dead
on time!!!!
A quick word on the matches we played last weekend; A great start
for the 1st XI
Saturday League team - we beat Northwood II's on a very sticky track
by 5
wickets, chasing only 112 - superb bowling by Ziggy, Buggy and Anuj
(who took 2
wickets on debut, including one with his first ball!) and then we
were guided
home by our number 5 and 6 bats, Barry (41*) and Alex 37, who
established an 82
run 5th wicket partnership, after coming together when we were in
trouble at 30
for 4! A great result, let's see if we can carry this on this week!
Unfortunately, after a fine bowling performance, the Saturday two's
come a bit
unstuck on a tricky wicket, but a fine all round performance by
Dwayne (5
wickets and 28 runs) shows that there is much to come from that
team.
On Sunday, the ones overcome their opposition very easily. Hockerill
were never
at the races, 130 all out, with the wickets shared around and then
our batters
raced to victory. The two's were beaten by a very strong Knebworth
Blues, but
good batting performances by Stewart, Kermit and debutant Sarj
brought some
respectability to the score, better luck next time!
On a more serious note, I must remind you all, that we would like
you to read
and sign our new Player Charter - please could you make sure you do
this before
you play your game at the weekend.
Once again please can you take a note of where you have been picked
to play,
what time the meet times are (especially as you have read the new
Player's
Charter!) and email me back to confirm.
Best Regards
Paul Hewitt
