A Colts Section Workshop was held Wednesday 4/12/02 in
preparation of the proposed launching of a cricket colt section
in 2003. It looks like we will be starting with an under 11's
team.
We have a long tradition of colts cricket at Holtwhites
Cricket Club, in fact many of the current players have come
through our colts section including David Evans, Pat Micaleff,
Paul Hewitt, John Froment, Des Kerr, and many others.
Unfortunately due to the uncertainty of our grounds future,
some years ago, the Colts Section understandably folded. It was
briefly revived by Gerry Foster for two years, where he had 50
youngsters turning up every week! There was no shortage of
budding cricketers, but due to the redevelopment of the ground,
we had to temporarily close the section down again.
Colts Cricket is the future of any cricket team and I take my
hat off to the new Colts Cricket Committee who have undertaken
to start cricket at the HTCG for under 11's.
